Who can apply for Clerk Vacancies in Punjab National Bank ?

Clerical Job often Single Window Operator Job in Punjab National Bank is not accessible to any one and only the Qualified candidates in the IBPS Clerk Exam are eligible to apply for clerk vacancies in the Punjab National Bank.

It is worth mentioning here that prior to July 2011, the bank had been conducting the separate recruitment exams for Clerical as well as Officer Level posts, but soon after the Introduction of IBPS Common Written Exams, the recruitment exams are conducted by IBPS, on the behalf of PNB.So passing the IBPS Clerk Exam is the only gateway to get a Clerical Job in Punjab National Bank.

I have passed the IBPS Clerk Exam ? Am I eligible for PNB Clerk Recruitment ?

Merely passing the IBPS Clerk exam does not guarantee that you are eligible to apply for Clerical Job in Punjab National Bank.The reason for this is that IBPS had a Common Eligibility criteria for all the 19 participating banks but PNB had its own eligibility criteria.Let us understand it with an example

Eg: The Educational Qualification for IBPS Clerk Exam is only 12th Pass but the Educational Qualification to apply for Clerk Jobs in Bank of Baroda is Graduation.

So this means that even after passing the IBPS Clerk Exam, you will get a Bank Job after satisfying the respective bank's eligibility criteria.This is a reason for which the IBPS Exams are highly criticized.

I have satisfied both the IBPS and PNB eligibility criteria ? Will I be called for the Interview ?

The Key element after satisfying both the IBPS and PNB's eligibility criteria is Your IBPS Score and Number of Vacancies in your State. Your Invitation to Interview will depend upon these two factors.

IBPS Score: IBPS had issued the Scorecards to all the successful students in the IBPS Clerk exam 2011.Candidates with High IBPS score will have more chance to be called for the Interview as compared to the candidates with low IBPS Score

Number of Vacancies in your State: Since the IBPS Clerk Recruitment is conducted on state-UT wise.So the vacancies are also distributed among the states.As a result, candidates can apply for vacancies in the Particular State / UT Only.So much depends upon the Number of vacancies for the state for which you have applied

Cut off Marks for PNB Clerk Vacancy 2012

Cut Off Marks for the PNB Clerk Vacancy is expected to very high, The Cut off marks will be different for each of the State / UT.The cut marks for each state will be decided by taking into considertaion the Number of Vacancies for a particular state : Number of Qualified students in the Range of TWSS

Understand Cutt OFF Marks in one line

More Vacancies + Lesser Number of Qualified Candidates in your State = Lower Cut Off

Eg: In the Just Published Bank of Baroda Clerk Advt 2012, Let us have a look at the following points:

• For Gujarat State: Total Vacancies in Gen Category : 175 (Highest) and Cut Off Marks for Gen category is :139
• For J&K State:  Total Vacancies in Gen Category : 2 (Lowest) and Cut Off Marks for Gen category is :174

 So it is clear that If there more vacancies in your state and less number of Qualified candidates, then the Cut off for that state will be lower.

 Punjab National Bank Clerk Notification 2012

Punjab National Bank will soon announce its Clerical Recruitment Project-2012.Although there is no confirmation about the actual date of publication of Recruitment Notification, but it is expected the PNB will invite application in the May or June 2012.


Whenever, PNB will decalre clerical vacancies, the same will be notifiued on the Recruitment Page of PNB's Official Website and in the Employment Newspaper
