Indian Institute of space science and technology(IIST) situated in Thiruvanathapuram,Kerala is Asia's first Space Institute in the world which offer study cource for different range of students. Starting from under graduates to doctoral programmes this Institute specialises in giving focus in Avionics, Aerospace Engineering and Physical Sciences.
In the beginning stage,IIST got registered as a Society under the Travancore -Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955.The Institute got approval from the Union Cabinet and was formally inaugurated on 14 September 2007. With less than a year of the establishment, IIST got the recognition of UGC and it becomee a Deemed University.
This Institute encourages smart youngsters from different parts of India and imbibe suitable measures to build up a career with the Indian Space Research Organisation.The Indian Institute of space science and technology(IIST) functions as a autonomous body which is under the Department of Space, Government of India.

IIST Admission Test-2011 (ISAT 2011) for the current year has been held on 16th April 2011 (Saturday) from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
